Title: The Trinity show in Toronto was PERFECT.
Post by HomemadeRADIOHEADshirt on Apr 27th, 2002, 10:59pm
???
I cannot put into words how great this night really was...if you were there you know exactly what I mean. You could feel it in the second row =) or deep in the bowels of the basement, the place was alive with music, was seaping with amazing clout. I am still dumb-founded.
If you have a chance to see Sarah live anytime, DO IT.
And the next time you have a chance, DO IT.
And the next time
and the next time

Went to last nights show without any idea
what Sarah Slean was all about
Wasn't so hyped for it either
expecting whiny chick music
but I told my friend Becky I'd go with her anyway

I ended up being really impressed with Sarah
has such a great voice and acts all cutesy
on stage

The slower songs still made me squirm
but I got really into it when the whole band was wailin away
loved the girl who played trumpet and tambourine
and the drummer was fun to watch

Venue was really interesting
never been to a concert in a church before
felt kinda cramped where I was sittin, first row up in the balcony
overall I had a pretty nice time

Wunderbrat's Rating - 7/10

Yes, that was the most amazing show i've ever been to in my entire life ... it was so INTENSE ... it was like an out of body experience ... unforgettable ... it was RIDICULOUS how amazing it was. for the sake of humanity, go see her live if you ever get the chance...

Yes, i too had never been to a concert in a church before and had never even heard of Sarah Slean but decided to go with some friends who spoke highly of her music. I was impressed and amazed at how wonderful her voice was and also with the different instruments being played made for a wonderful experience. I would like to know if anyone recalls a song she sang i believe it was someone else's though, not edelweiss, she did not accompany it on the piano and it was a slower song. Anyone, let me know it was beautiful.

Hi all,

Yes, I was able to attend the concert the other day.  It was a great time, can't remember having such a good time.  I was at the Radiohead and U2 concerts last year and I honestly had a better time at Sarah's concert.  Andrew Rodriguez (sorry about the spelling) was a great at warming up the crowd; I was very impressed with his songs.  It was very endearing watching Sarah skip across the stage, trying to ignore the rather large turnout (her childlike mannerisms are very cute).  She seemed at home during the performances, but how cute was she when she had to address the audience?  It's great being able to experience her talent at a time when we can see her in intimate settings such as the Trinity Church.  Plus, pretty soon we will all have to pay $40 - $50 to see her play live (of course I will be the first in line, regardless of the price).  However, is it just me, or did anyone else find that it was mostly women singing along to the song from the Sound of Music.  I couldn't help but laugh when I heard mostly female voices singing along with Sarah.  I honestly have never seen the movie, but it was a nice touch by Sarah to incorporate the crowd.  I hope you all get a chance to see her play live, as it's quite a show.  There are very few people/bands that sound as good, if not better, live than they do on their albums, but Sarah is one of the talented few.  Well, that's enough raving from me, take care all,

Andrew

P.S.  I'll see you all in Hamilton in a few days hopefully!

THATS who that guy was!
Hayden!
haha
Oh yeah!
I got to take a picture with "Felix" from Road to Avonlea! :P
haha, yeah, u heard me right.
He's a nice guy.
And by now how's a beaming new Slean fan.

I was wearing my Radiohead shirt on purpose SO Slean MIGHT look at it.

She definently did.
During the intro to Sweet Ones *right before the finger snaps came in* She saw it, smiled, then looked me in the EYES and smiled for what seemed like years!
*But was actually mere seconds.
I patted myself on the head for coming up with such a great idea, haha.
She is absurdly right, utterly perfect.
And I am helplessly and hopelessly in love. hahah

P.S.
I'll be right back, I'm gonna go shout my love from mountain tops, haha

The concert was indeed perfect, though i noticed that sarah didn't talk as much to the audience as she did when she played lee's palace in the fall.
*That* concert was great, being in the first row, but i loved this one just because the venue was perfect for her music, and hearing her play on an actual piano was amazing.

i really loved her piano version of Me, I'm a Thief - it gave a much different feel to the song than on the album

did anyone else notice how still the audience was? sitting in the pews i kept wanting to get up and dance to her songs...

I was there!  I actually live in the Rochester, NY area, but I won tickets (and the nightbugs cd, which is also amazing) on WBER (w00t!) and went on a road trip to go see it!  It was DEFINITELY worth the drive!

Yes, I did notice that sarah didnt talk to the audience as much... she didnt really tell any stories about the songs or anything like she usually does... I'm thinking it might have to do with the turnout of the show, there were SO many people, I was really surprised. It was probably a bit intimidating.  I guess I'm just used to going to see her at Milestones in rochester where most of the people there are there to drink beer and play pool, and not to enjoy the music... (their loss!) But yes, this show was absolutely amazing.  And I'm surprised how great the sound was, even in a church - most of the time churches eat up the sound, but it was different there... but the atmosphere was just great - everyone was just completely engulfed in the music - it was simply amazing.

Would just like to say that I was absolutely blown away by Saturday's show..........so much so that I am driving to Hamilton for Thursday's show......I had never seen her live before, and now know what an uplifting experience it was...... the only downfall(and I'm probably gonna be shot for writing this): hundreds of beautiful women who probably thought I was gay......but alas.........I trek onward to hear that angelic voice once more...........

woah HEY RICK.

I was not expecting it to be THAT good. I was very impressed, so much that I went to see her in Hamilton too. Both shows very good, fantastic even.
