Title: dark room Post by Nikolita on Apr 15th, 2002, 12:40pm what do you make of the "lyrics" for "dark room" on the night bugs album? The song is clearly musical without singing . . . unless I'm missing something ;) Is this a poem then? It fits well with the music if you listen to the song and read the poem at the same time. I love how it ends: but so on fire with believing that when the storm introduced itself i put my finger in its mouth I could just see dark room on a movie soundtrack. . . and me, i'm a thief too for that matter. nikolita^_^ |

Title: Re: dark room Post by Sp1d3r on Sep 27th, 2002, 7:46pm I'm a newbie here and I have this EXACT question. Is there a reason why this song is instrumental on the cd? Has anyone ever heard her *sing* it? The lyrics are stunning. I'd love to hear her sing them! Anyone? Sarah? Heather? Bueller? |

Title: Re: dark room Post by guyfromARGYLEROAD on Sep 27th, 2002, 9:38pm I think perhaps she intended to leave it instrumental... Then added the poem for fun? Or maybe I am just naive. She is a brain. J |

Title: Re: dark room Post by Sp1d3r on Oct 25th, 2002, 11:36am Hey! I asked Sarah about this on Oct. 20th at the Toronto Indigo appearance. She told me that it's a poem that she wrote and the music on the album is inspired by it. She's never sang it as it was meant for the reader to read it along to the score. I'm sure she's been asked this a thousand times but she still was pleasant about it. She even pointed out by saying that it isn't meant to be a song and that's why it is printed in a different colour than the lyrics of the songs. Personally, I think both works are stunning on their own. |

Title: Re: dark room Post by sapphiremodena on Oct 25th, 2002, 9:45pm I remember buying Night Bugs at her July concert in Vancouver, and sitting on my bed afterwards, listening to the album with my headphones, reading the lyric booklet. When I was reading the lyric booklet, and stumbled upon the poem that accompanied Dark Room, I knew that I'd just bought a magical album and that I had another favourite musician to add to my shortlist. |
